I grew up Fredericksburg, Texas, the daughter of a cattle rancher and an opera singer. Between showing steers at stock shows and classical piano lesson, I spent my time riding my horses and playing bassoon. My musical influences were very diverse stemming from a childhood that oscillated between listening to Johnny Cash and Johnny Horton, to the Barbara Streisan and Julie Andrews.
The rock and roll bug bit me about the same time I got my drivers license, so show I had enough gas to get to and back, I went to. During those years, I had the good fortune of meeting amazing musicians like Billy Gibbons, Quincy Jones, Jean Beauvoir, Rudy Sarzo and Howard Johnson.
After being given the opportunity to play keyboards at Hemisphere Arena for the Ben Beckendorf Band, where I met John Grell, a local San Antonio guitar legend, I joined John's band at 16 as my first gig as a lead singer at 16.
During the 'Face of the 80s" contest, I met several agents from Paris and Milan, where I moved to and modeled for 4 years. I sang along side the French Piano Bar master Savlavatore, and I was offerred a recording contract by EMI. Declining the offer with the hope of an American deal, I moved to LA, which proved to be reality check. Even with both A&M and MCI offering me development deals, finding that elusive "A" song proved difficult as an unsigned artist. It was Quincy Jones who said to me, "Girl, get out there and get good. And as a matter of fact, why don't you try writing yourself?"
I was introduced Jeff Carruthers, with whom I recorded numerous song demos trying to find my niche as a writer. One day I woke and remembered where I was from, and the country Stacey came alive. I was being managed by Steve Fargnoli of Prince, Sinead O'Conor fame while developing the project. Unfortunately, Steve died of cancer before we could see the project through. Heartbroken, I put the songs a way for years. But here they are for both your and my enjoyment. I hope they touch you in some way.
